How the boards are made
Vacant clean and out of order rooms are left off, and do not disturb rooms count as stayovers. The rest go in walking order, floor by floor, and that route is cut into one stretch per attendant. With no maximums, each stretch is as close as it can get to an even share of the credits, and when the balance is about the same, a cut between floors wins. A floor preference puts that person on their floor. An attendant with a maximum never gets more than that, the order you list people in makes no difference, and a room that fits on no stretch goes to a board with room left, so nothing waits under Not assigned while a board has room for it.
Example: rooms 101 to 105, 201, 202 and 204 to 206 need service: five checkouts at 1 credit, four stayovers at 0.5 and a suite stayover at 0.75, 7.75 credits. With three attendants the even share is 2.58, and the boards come out as 101 to 103 (2.5 credits), 104 to 202 (2.5) and 204 to 206 (2.75).
Questions
What is a room credit?
A credit is a unit of work. Hotel software that uses credits gives each room type one value for a checkout (departure) and one for a stayover. This page starts at 1 and 0.5. Change them under Room types and credits to match how long your rooms take.
How many rooms should a housekeeper clean in 8 hours?
There is no single number. When a 5-star supervisor asked on r/hotels how many departures fit a 7-hour shift, the replies ranged from 8 to about 20 rooms, depending on the property. Time a few cleans, set Minutes per credit under Sheet settings, and each board shows its hours.
What happens to do not disturb rooms?
They stay on the board at the stayover credit, listed last so the attendant comes back to them. Priority rooms, such as early arrivals, go to the top of each board.
What if there are more rooms than my team can clean?
Give each attendant a maximum. When every board is full, the rest go on a Not assigned list on the summary sheet. Rooms come off in this order: do not disturb rooms and stayovers first, then checkouts, and priority rooms last. A room waits there only when it fits neither in the space left on a board nor in place of rooms that come off before it.
Can I change a board after it is made?
Yes. Pick another attendant in a room's Board menu, or drag the room onto another board on a computer, and the totals update. A room whose status changes keeps its board. Make boards again asks first if you moved rooms by hand.
Is my room list saved?
Yes, in this browser on this device, after every change. Start a new day clears the statuses, boards and maximums, keeps out of order rooms and who is on shift, and puts the old day under Earlier copies, where you can reopen or reprint it.
